Nope.

Sandy Springs mayor was sitting on top secret classified back roads and now the Braves have RUINED EVERYTHING!

You can practically see the $%#& stadium from that Powers Ferry 285 exit. Like nobody would have ever thought to get off there, miss the 75/285 junction, and come in from Powers Ferry or Interstate N. Parkway .... which are about the least crowded roads in metro ATL.

True, since Google owns Waze and Waze uses Google Map's road categories, there is no field in the road attribute table to not allow the software from using local/residential roads as short cuts.

Can you point me to the local/residential roads in this area that would serve as a short cut to Sun Trust Park? You can make as many turns as you want once off of 285 to try and avoid the traffic, but you've still got to get across the river somehow, and the only way to do that is the route they are proposing anyways.

I was thinking of drivers cutting thru SS neighborhoods to avoid the 285/400 bottleneck; eg: Riverside Dr. Heards Ferry, River Valley, Mt Vernon, etc. Yes the river presents an obstacle with few crossing, I wonder how long before we see private ferries and river crossings like in Oregon Trail the computer game.

I work off of Windward and there is absolutely, positively nothing ghetto about the area. On the other hand, as a former Cobb resident I can tell you that there are apartments in Cobb on Franklin Road, Terrell Mill Road, Cobb Parkway, Delk Road, and Austell Road that would be considered "ghetto" to some.

Now that Coke and other companies have left that Windy Ridge business park, those two roads literally may be the least congested in the inner metro like you mention. It's a ghost town, I travel them often. Also, by no stretch would those roads be considered "residential". You can put a sign on 285 for the park or not, but those roads will be used for access to the park coming 285 West and it will work well. The entire conversation and especially the headline is a joke. "Cutting through Sandy Springs" more like "getting off an underutilized access road that previously went nowhere and happens to be partially in Fulton County".

. . . for, what, a mile or so?

I agree that the headlines on this issue are just intended to stoke emotion, and have little basis in reality. And that's coming from someone who will take any reasonable opportunity available to trash talk the Braves departure from Atlanta.

Why all the uproar? Once the stadium location was announced the next question was traffic.
