Should be worth a look for the OP. New apartments within walking distance.

Eh, personally, I would avoid those apartments on the Emory campus itself, because that rent is going to be outrageous.

So far as rent is basically throwing away money, might as well throw away less of it. Get something a mile or a couple miles away from campus, and save your money, or get to spend more of it on going out and enjoying life.

That's starting at $1600, plus all the extra fees and bills involved.

Whereas I just randomly googled a complex on Briarcliff:
Floor Plans of Briarcliff Apartments in Atlanta, GA

Starts at $1020. Opinions of course may vary, but the Gables isn't worth it IMO, even if you can afford it.

From Decatur there is a very convenient shuttle to Emory.
Emory University: Transportation and Parking Services
Depending upon your job, your assigned parking lot may force you to ride one of the shuttles anyway.

If it were me, though, I would first consider the downtown condo's for rent at 201 W Ponce De Leon (I've been in there) or the ones at 230 W Ponce de Leon (not been in there). I think there's a couple-three on realtor.com right now in zip code 30030. I live not far from there. I like the area a lot; I used to work in downtown Decatur.

From either of those you can get to Emory without getting on main roads if you prefer, and it's less than a 3 mile walk to Emory hospital though a rather pretty neighborhood.

There is this new apartment complex in Decatur opening approximately now: ARLO Apartment Homes

However, one side of the Arlo faces railroad tracks.
Where I live I can sometimes hear the deep sound of the locomotive engines moving through Decatur at night; it puts me to sleep in seconds. However, I don't live right next to the tracks ( I don't hear them during the day) and I've not been in the Arlo so I can't say if it would be annoying on the track-side.

It also sounds like you're considering places around Lenox mall. I think that would not be a bad commute if you're between the mall and Emory.

Out of curiosity, what apartments near Decatur did you see the bad reviews for?
