If you read the article they mention the architectural style

However, advocates say the building, with its Beaux-Arts styling and neoclassical details, is the perfect candidate for adaptive-reuse.

Guilty as charged. I'll own up to the fact that I didn't read this article.

What mutiny said, plus the term brutalism comes for the phrase "beton brut" which is French for raw concrete.

Basically, think 1970s Commie Blocs

I was watching the Audrey Hepburn/Fred Astaire movie Funny Face yesterday, and I couldn't help but notice that all the buildings and monuments in Paris were absolutely filthy back in 1957. Nothing at all like how it is now. Good thing the French don't think about their built environment like Atlantans do, or else their entire city would have been torn down and replaced with shiny new buildings.

Gotta say that we really cannot compare Atlanta's "historic" buildings to the Notre Dame, Louvre, etc. This building in question is aged, yes, but attractive and worthy of saving? Nah.

I wasn't making the comparison between our buildings and theirs. I was comparing the value we place on things that have history. Their values are better than ours in that regard. I have no idea what is inside this building, but the exterior could be made to look very nice with minimal effort. Street level retail with awnings and it's suddenly the best looking building in the area.

I agree with the shame!

But it's hard for me to read stuff on Curbed. They are so freaking biased that it almost hurts to read a lot of their stuff.

And I don't mean the kind of biased that people like to throw out as accusations against content they just don't agree with. I mean, they are really biased, so much that I can't imagine they even try to deny it.

I like to use them to reference more respected journalism.

If you don't deem Curbed a "respectable" or "trustworthy" source, why does it seem like you post links to their content on a daily or hourly basis? Just seems like an odd juxtaposition that you constantly take pot shots at the website you are constantly directing traffic to. If you don't think it's credible, stop driving traffic there.
