The Assembly "Line" is Moving at Assembly Doraville - Atlanta Brookhaven Chamblee Real Estate Homes For Sale

in June, 2017, the developer finally secured some $50M in bond financing to begin work

There actually HAS been development…around the site…on land SOLD off from the main site. It would appear such purchasers had the funds available to develop their said purchase and as a result, out came the Asbury Automotive Group’s Nalley Infinity and Nissan dealerships with their signature “car towers.”

  • The red area is the location of the auto dealerships.
  • The blue area is the location of Third Rail Studios.
  • The smaller black area is the location of Serta Simmons building.
  • And the other black circled area is called the “Assembly Yards” and is where the current infrastructure work is going, and then most likely the location of the recently announced 400,000 sq. ft. of tenants that have expressed an interest.
  • The area will hopefully include some sort of restaurants, including a brew pub, and a 200 unit apartment building is currently in the permitting stage with the City of Doraville’s Planning Department. The big YELLOW elephant is about 100 acres.
  • It’s one site being promoted as a potential for Amazon’s HQ2. However, the site still lacks direct connectivity to the Doraville MARTA station. It’s ONLY 13 railroad tracks from the site, and some $50M to build the Park Avenue covered street connection to the site. Not sure if Amazon is such a big player they will foot this bill, or that having a tenant like Amazon will give the developer the needed push to get additional bond financing to construct this vital transit connection to the site.

Nothing says transit connectivity like a car dealership

Who's moving up in the betting? Dublin. https://www.inc.com/chris-matyszczyk...o-contend.html

Of course there are 5 million people in all of Ireland so its not happening. But people are betting on it. Atlanta and Austin are the betting favorites.

Really what you have to ask is why is Amazon building a 2nd HQ? Its because they are outgrowing Seattle's infrastructure and ability to provide talent. Seattle is the 15th largest metro at 3.8 million. Baltimore is #21 at 2.8 million. Then it drops to Charlotte at 2.5 million. Austin is a tech hub, but only has 2.1 million. I would think any metro smaller than Baltimore really couldn't handle it.

So if you eliminate west coast cities, its New York, Chicago, DFW, Houston, DC, Philly, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tampa, Denver, St. Louis and Baltimore. The criteria pretty much assume NYC and DC won't be it. Boston and Minneapolis have stated they aren't providing big incentives. So that narrows it down to only 11 metros and about half of them are very unlikely.

Proximity to talent matters. In any other situation, Baltimore would be combined with DC (and was back in the 90s officially).

Philly and NYC are not far. Pittsburgh isn't far in terms of recruiting (and the reverse is true in terms of Pittsburgh recruiting from the coast). Chicago could easily recruit talent.

The Triangle isn't far in terms of recruiting for Charlotte.

In market talent matters, but proximity to nearby markets would not be overlooked.

When certain retailers, look at a market or something in any area, they look at a demographics and a radius. I would imagine that this would include something similar on a larger scale.

Stonecrest is at it again:
https://saportareport.com/stonecrest...ay-woo-amazon/

Can someone from the state go over to Stonecrest and have a heart to heart with them? It's not going to happen there. They state in the article that the city leadership isn't even sure if it was a site the State of Georgia officially offered in their bid (hint: obviously it wasn't). I don't want to discourage effort, but I feel a tinge of embarrassment for the region as clearly this won't happen but they just keep trying.

And what in the hell are they talking about here?!?:
Quote:
The campaign uses a digital tactic – geo-fencing – to spread the message of Stonecrest’s community attributes to employees of the digital giant. ...
Using the wonders of technology, Stonecrest is to deliver a marketing message to the mobile devices of all Amazon employees when they are located at the company’s 30-plus locations in Seattle.

The message is to remain visible on the device for a month, according to a spokesperson for smartreachdigital.com. Here’s how the message system is to work:

A colorful image will open on each cell phone, tablet, computer – you name it – every time a digital device is powered up on an Amazon corporate campus. The message reads, “amazon, Georgia. American’s First Corporate City.” Viewers can click the “Learn More” link to learn more
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah. Looks like someone is quoting sales-speak from a marketing firm that is taking advantage of people who don't know what they are doing. This is not possible, unless Amazon has a captive portal that employees log into daily AND Amazon allows outside advertising on this captive portal. Neither are likely, but certainly not the latter.

Thank God marketers cannot force ads to your screen that you have to dismiss in order to use your device. (yes I am aware of Amazon's Kindle offerings that have reduced priced devices w/ ads, but that is not the scenario presented here)

Hate to tell them, but American Corporate Cities were coal company towns that exploited workers.
