Betting website Paddy Power puts Atlanta’s odds of landing Amazon’s $5 billion second headquarters or 'HQ2' at two-to-one, beating Austin (3-to-1) and Boston (6-to-1).

Among the sites being considered are
  1. The Gulch, a 120-acre site around Philips Arena and CNN Center;
  2. Assembly, a redevelopment of the former General Motors plant in Doraville;
  3. the former Fort McPherson Army base; a site near Hartsfield-Jackson;
  4. a site in Midtown and on the Westside.
  5. Two sites outside the I-285 loop are also in play.

The Gulch, a 120-acre site around Philips Arena and CNN Center, is said to be the city of Atlanta’s “primary site,” according to a source.

If you consider Pittsburg, Cleveland, Portland and Cincinnati "mid-sized," ok. I think of Tulsa, Knoxville or Omaha when I think "mid-sized."

Not like Austin, trust me. ATL students tend to stick to their campus. In Austin, the whole downtown is a student's playground.

When I was at both GSU (undergrad) and Tech (grad school), we definitely didn't stay on campus.

It's those young quirky bunches that made these companies. If these companies start enforcing suits and ties, the company has "jumped the shark". Typically, west coast companies are more laid back. I think Amazon wants to have a culture that is like that so it is more inventive and creative. Seriously, what is IBM today?

That's the way they want it. Their motto is "Keep Austin weird."

They must be "undercover". You can't swing a stick without hitting a student in Austin.
