I think this is one of Keishas biggest strengths as mayor. She can be tough on crime without being seen as racist. Remember, calls from Norwood to increase police presence was seen as racist, while Keishas calls to do the same if not more (including more cameras) were applauded. If she ups our police force and reduces crime I will happily become one of her biggest fans.

Did y'all see the letter yesterday from Norwood's attorney to Atlanta and Fulton County officials, outlining problems with the election?

Hard to say whether the outcome would have been different, but there are serious concerns in several respects.

Mary conceded (which was the right thing to do), but at least this is all out there in plain sight.

Yep, she did the right thing.

Until I read yesterday's letter I didn't realize how fuzzy the election results were. There might be a valid challenge if it went to court but that wouldn't be in the best interest of the city at this time.

Hopefully they can fix things for future elections. In a close race especially, people need to be able to have confidence that the vote count is correct.

And they told us segregation was over.
Hopefully Bottoms will reach out in a significant way to the areas where her vote count was low.

It's time to bridge those gaps.

One can hope. She would be a model for politicians everywhere.

Then they all could work on Hunger and World peace right after that.

Well, I meant that as a serious suggestion. It would not be difficult to take steps to start bridging the gap.

And working on hunger and World peace are worthy goals indeed!

I posted something similar myself above. I agree with you.

I don't think annexation of SE DeKalb is going to be as easy as annexing parts of South Fulton (also majority blank) was. The area of SE DeKalb immediately adjacent to Atlanta is poverty-stricken with high crime, so what would be the rationale coming out of city hall? They can't say it is to preserve the current mafia.

One interesting aspect is if the city of Greenhaven passes, Atlanta would be landlocked to the south on all sides.
