You guess correctly. Sorry for the confusion.

The sad and sorry part is North Point...

There is no reason for that mall to be "going down."

Gwinnett Place and North Point are classic cases of commercial overbuild in certain corridors.

All that Avalon has could've (should've) been added to a new, improved, expanded, and updated North Point Mall--similar to what they did to Natick Mall in Massachusetts.

Wonder why they don't redevelop North DeKalb as a mixed use project with a downsized retail component? The demographics are definitely there.

That Fat Lady hasn't sung yet. I think the demographics do support it; Northlake, too.

The rumor for the last couple years is that Costco was coming to the Macy's portion of the mall and the rest of the mall would turn into the Forum in Peachtree Corners but I haven't heard any talk in a couple years now.

There used to be talk about building a Costco at North DeKalb. In my opinion it would be wildly popular.

If they go in that direction, let's hope they do something more urban than the giant surface lot at Town Brookhaven. The rest of Town Brookhaven is not bad at all but I believe Costco and LA Fitness could survive with a three level deck in lieu of that 6 acre surface lot.

Yes, the demographics are definitely there for both Northlake and North DeKalb.

1. Northlake should re-make itself a la Cumberland Mall and a bit of Perimeter Mall. Anything that is more "mall-esque" should be moved from North DeKalb to Northlake.

2. North DeKalb should be re-developed into urban-like lifestyle center--with tenants that serve daily/everyday life (Costco, Fitness, Fresh Market/Sprouts, etc.)

Man, that place looks desolate. Was it because of the hour?
