To answer your question about the Cheesecake factory, there appears to be one in both Buckhead and the Perimeter. I've only been to the one in Cumberland, so I can't comment on whether those are nice, but the one in Cumberland is wonderful.

I find Buckhead to be pretty bland and boring...I'm sure the peachtree part will be 'nice' in a few years once they finish that redevelopment project but it general it doesn't really have a personality (in my opinion) That traffic is horrific and it isn't very walkable. unless I was tucked away in one of those mansions I wouldn't want to live in a condo there.

I've eaten at the one by the Perimeter Mall somewhat recently, and it's quite good. The Cumberland Mall location is the one we normally frequent, though, because it's a lot closer for us.

highriser, i see what you mean but dunwoody seems a bit too suburban for me. i like that buckhead is centrally located and close enough to midtown, virginia highlands, little five, and downtown without being right in it. midtown was my second choice, but buckhead has that cosmopolitan feel that i really like. I also want to visit this new Atlantic Station area that i have heard about (not to live though) LovinD, thanks for the directions to perimeter! and nice pic netdragon!

Can anyone tell me if the GA400 is really that bad traffic-wise? I have heard that Atlanta has a severe traffic problem. Is the marta rail a safe and easy option to avoid this? i notice that there are two stations in the buckhead area...and would you all not consider buckhead walkable? i've gotten mixed reviews on that issue. i do own a car and but love the idea of not having to use it all the time, especially if marta is a decent system. As far as the buckhead cheescake factory, i wonder if it gets that "rough" crowd that those former clubs across the street use to get

You know, Mid Town sounds like it would be right up your alley too, so don't forget. There's a lot of friendly stores, restaurants and bars/clubs. There are beautiful parks, as you may already know Piedmont Park is a absolutely gorgeous place to be on a sunny day, especially if you have a furry friend to take with you! Buckhead is nice, but Mid Town is in the middle of everything, it's conveniently located, near a lot of great shopping malls and nice restaurants. Good Luck to you with whatever you happen to choose though!

Is 400 that bad? Yeah, 'fraid so.
There are three MARTA stations in the Buckhead area (Lindbergh, Buckhead and Lenox); trouble is that none of these is convenient to downtown Buckhead (the Buckhead station is about 3/4 mi from Pharr Ct). Too bad, because the MARTA line goes straight to Perimeter Mall.
