Is East Cobb an area where you could feel relatively safe from things like robbery/residential burglary/other violent crime? I notice there are not many gated subdivisions in East Cobb. Is this because people feel this isn't necessary?

Are there any particular E. Cobb areas or subdivisions recommended in this regard if you are looking to buy a house there?

Thank you.

East Cobb would be considered a very decent place to live, but it's a little too congested for me. And it also can be expensive.

But safety shouldn't be an issue. Most of the roads in East Cobb go east and west--well away from the north south roads that carry the criminal element out of the City of Atlanta. I would think the county was controlling the migration of people to minimize crime. East Cobb also pretty much prices that element out of the housing market too.

My favorite area would still be up Hwy 400 and out Hwy 141 going toward Roswell and Alpharetta going toward Forsythe County.

East Cobb has some of the most accomplished, well-educated families in metro Atlanta (including a top-notch school district).

BUT, of course, they would live in $750K-$1MM+ homes WITHOUT gates because they don't like feeling safe and decided to live in a high crime area and also doesn't mind getting robbed...

So all you have to do to avoid crime in Atlanta is avoid the north/south roads?

All this time... I was totally unaware of the travel patters of the criminal element!

If East Cobb is dangerous, you might need to live in a bubble. It's one of the most desirable places to live in the metro.

Still sounds scary with no gates. Anybody and everybody can come roaming through your neighborhood.

Our family friend lives in East Cobb (Walton zone) and was robbed at gunpoint a few yrs back inside his house. He is a small business owner and was targeted though.

Outside of some cases like this (rich Asians are at the highest risk), you won't see much serious crime in East Cobb.

We don't have many gated communities in affluent areas intown either and somehow we (mostly) survive.
