Hi all, I'm thinking about taking a 3 day road trip with family and friends from ATL to Myrtle Beach, SC.

I know it takes about 6 hrs to get there. How is the drive though? Is it scenic or boring?

Anything interesting to see on the way? Any suggestions or recoms?

Thanks.

I take I-20 to where it ends in Florence, and then 76/501 to Myrtle Beach.

From Atlanta to Florence is the most boring drive in the world. Just interstate highway. You go through Augusta, which is where I usually stop to eat. Just the usual fast food places on the Washington Road exit.

Going to the beach from Florence is slightly more interesting, because it's not interstate. IIRC there are some Revolutionary War sites and some plantations with gardens that you can see if you go a little way off the road.

However, do not speed in SC. You will get stopped and you will get a ticket. Like night follows day.

I-20 Between outer eastern suburbs and Florence (Except Columbia; I Love Columbia) is the most boring drive in the world I have been on. And I have droven thru Texas and Oklahoma. I would say if your taking a three day road trip go to South of the Border at the NC and SC line best truck stop in the world hands down (Even tho travel channel put it at fourth).

Take back roads from there to Mrytle Beach. there are alot of swamps and bays on your way there that are really cool to look at them and ask your self how did they fill up with water with no stream connecting to them. That could be a fun little side trip if you have time to see the bays
