I understand your comment and in a more perfect world that would make good sense. But no, how an individual gets along with others often has nothing to do with it if someone who has no tolerance for others doesn't like him or her. I'm the most fun and social individual and well-spoken, too. But I'll let you know how I'm perceived in Peachtree when I visit next week to see the area for myself. Some people just see you and turn the cold shoulder and although that can happen anywhere, I don't need a possible 84% of that!

As to whether you would fit in there or not...no one can answer that question for you. IMO, "fitting in" doesn't depend on what color a person is, but more about how that individual gets along with others.

I'm glad I came across this post before making a move. I am relocating from NJ to GA and was considering the Peachtree City area. I am looking for apartments, not homes, but from what I've read here, I wouldn't appreciate the lack of diversity and I certainly wouldn't want people thinking I'm someone's maid (not that there's anything wrong with being a maid, but those who know what I'm saying get my drift). I can't wait to visit later this month to see for myself. I will certainly report back how this woman was received.

We are thinking about looking at Peachtree city but are just concerned about a lack of diversity...meaning gay people, african americans etc....would like to be able to have a mix of all people, atleast a small mix.

Diversity like that would be so wonderful. Sigh.

Diversity in PTC - Not much. At the school my child attended there were no ESL kids.

Physicians - Specialists - I found there to be few specialists.

Too bad we never heard "how this black woman was received". It's obvious to me that race is more an issue with you than with most people...and if you present yourself that way then that may just be what you get in return. I wonder where you ended up?

We're considering a visit to PTC for possible relocation and diversity is not something I'm necessarily looking for. There seems to be very little crime. Are the surrounding areas as safe?

PTC is in Fayette County... the entire county is safe...

I choose a home based on convenience (to the things I need), safety, and education... PTC has all of those things.

I don't get the entire lack of diversity talk... it's you're freaking home. If you want an experience drive to Atlanta...

PTC is more of an upscale town with heavy community involvement... one of the reasons why crime is low and schools are good...

If you move into a neighborhood... all of your neighbors will probably snoop around and talk your head off... doesn't matter what race or religion you are... they want to know who the new person moving into their community is...

I think the trade off is worth it...

I found a great search engine that tells you where and when each crime occurred in Fayette county or for that matter any county in GA.
Fayette County crime report *| ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/news/crime/fayette-county-crime-report-178019.html - broken link)

Sept - Nov 09 according to the above link - there were aprox 80 assaults, 70 burglaries, 7 robberies, and 135 larcenies.

The previous poster mentioned neighbors snooping around and talking your head off. My experience was completely opposite of the previous poster.

That's a nice little web tool, however it's only for the unincorporated parts of the county. Crimes that occur in the city are not figured into the numbers... most shopliftings, auto thefts, burglaries are going to be in the city limits where most businesses are located..

By snooping, I didn't mean they'd be peeping through your shrubs and digging in your trash... everyone always wants to know more about the neighbor... if they aren't talking to you, they're talking to neighbors about you..
