Regarding Atlanta's nightlife, it looks alive and well to me. I don't know where these clubs are but they seem to be happening.

link removed - commercial site (considered advertising - sorry).

I live within walking distance of one of the main districts (EAV) and it puts all those(except for Crescent Ave.) to shame. It still is very underwhelming for a city the size of Atlanta though.

And what you consider "distinct flavor" I consider cliquey. At least when Buckhead was in its heyday you had people from ALL walks of life hanging out there.
Buckhead back in the day felt like South Street in Philly,or South Jersey,Boston anywhere not special but exciting none the less.

East Lake is thriving.More clubs and bars keep opening up.Its not small. Its crowded on the weekends. There 550,000 people in the city limits. If there are multiple areas that are thriving at once,I cant see how that is a negative.

At least 15 different nights spots is not insignificant to me.
Nightlife East Atlanta Village Atlanta
Midtown has about the same number or less, they just cater to a more upscale base.
Typical neighborhoods that co exist with a thriving nightlife is what makes the city desirable.I like having a choice.Look at London,Paris or even NYC.The areas are scattered all around in different neighborhoods and Boroughs.

They may be small but they all have great crowds.Besides with Buckhead no longer with us as it used to be is and with the amount the city center has grown the places are popping up in all these areas ,and they are expanding to the point now they are apart of the communities they are inhabiting. This will either stay as it is or continue to grow.As it looks more like the latter.

Do you mean East Atlanta village when you said East Lake? Because I had thought you meant Oakhurst which is close to East Lake. Is there some place called East Lake Village that I'm not aware of?

EAV is hurting a little bit as far as retail goes. There are a lot of vacant places. That's neither here nor there though. It does have a fair amount of bars and a couple clubs there, I'll give it that. It's an ok place to hang but I don't really feel much energy on the weekends there like I have in a lot of entertainment districts.

I'm not saying having districts like EAV or L5P spread throughout the city is a bad thing. Far from it. But it would be nice to a thriving district that is dedicated to nothing but entertainment. Underground seems like the perfect spot but for some reason it just hasn't worked there.

Oh!No.My bad.I meant East Atlanta Village.Oakhurst is nothing. Was not paying attention.

Well its not like that every single weekend but I have seen new places pop up so it must be worth something.
It hasn't worked because untill they clean up the 5 points station and create and foster a more pleasant environment than for mostly young loud teenagers cursing and loud talking. It will forever have a negative connotation that is definitely exaggerated but their is a small grain of salt to the truth.

TWO TOWERS ON TAP FOR STREETS - Bisnow - Atlanta

"While he gave no build-out date for the project, he says the development will happen all at once instead of phases"

"says OliverMcMillan will continue to pursue a mix of luxury and specialty retailers for the project but declined to name any specific tenants. He was quick to say the look would be a “village” concept versus “trying to create a … version of Rodeo Drive.”

Someone not related to Streets bought that lot for a highrise apartment building. ESPN is still empty, btw.

Anyone interested in OliverMcMillan should take a look at some of their other projects - OliverMcMillan | Real Esate Services & Development

I am really impressed with several of their developments. The remake of the Air Force base outside Chicago looks great, as do their plans for the old vineyard in Ontario. These folks have also almost singlehandedly rebuilt the east side of Downtown San Diego.
