What does this article (or your post for that matter) have to do with Augusta?

Just showing that BPS might be looking to expand again and that would help get the Augusta store off the ground. Plus you guys should really quit copying us. It's getting old.

I didn't really get that impression from that article you posted. It seems to me that SC lawmakers are just trying to put together an incentive package to present to Bass Pro in hopes that it may convince them to start building stores again and to go ahead and build the Greenville store. I may have missed it, but I didn't see anything in that article that even hinted on any new construction on Bass Pro's part. And how is Augusta 'copying' Greenville, I just don't follow.

Copying us on the retail/restaurant/jobs front which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Oh and BPS is planning a Greenville store. They just wanted those tax incentives first though: State chamber exec: Sanford's departure now or later could benefit I-85 project | greenvilleonline.com | The Greenville News

Augusta Richmond County immediately agreed to give Bass Pro several tax incentives as well when it was revealed that they were looking to locate here, yet they still held off on building the store when they put a company-wide freeze on expansion. The store was already going to locate in Augusta and Greenville whether they got incentives or not, the only reason local governments are giving incentives is to 'lock-in' the companies commitments. The reason these stores aren't building is due to economic conditions, I don't mean to be a pessimist, but I don't see an incentive package making the process any faster since the company already had a guaranteed incentive package from Augusta yet still has not started construction. I think that the only time these stores will start construction is when the company decides to do it, they fired their entire new store design team remember? I think that we'll start to see a lot of these seemingly abandoned projects start to pick back up again very soon (possibly even this year).

Rumor is its supposed to start in the fall... The Augusta store is listed for future stores. The Village at Riverwatch land clearing is already done. I think WTP will move quicker. The Carmax is opening They're building roads at WTP. Village at Riverwatch has no movement as of know.

Outdoor World Retail Stores - Bass Pro Shops

The Augusta store still listed on the website is a good sign (they don't even have Greenville listed), but where have you heard that construction starts in the fall, because I haven't heard that anywhere...the last thing I've heard that had anything to do with VaR was that Bass Pro was putting a hold on building all new stores, and that was over a year ago.

The last I heard Belk, Starplex, Costco, and Bass Pro Shops were the anchors for the development, but then the economic downturn got pretty bad and the whole project was put on hold indefinitely.

I have a few connects in town I get info from. That's how I found out about Costco, Apple, Forever 21, Buy Buy Baby, Sheraton, etc coming before they announced.

That's how I found out too. I-520 will be widened from Gordon hwy to Peach orchard. They will add new on/off ramps and exits too. The construction is supposed to start this year sometime.
