Augusta is on the rise and there's no other city in georgia to compete with it besides atlanta.

Savannah is better. Closer to beaches.

One thing I don't understand though.
(no offense to anyone) as to why people want to live in coastal areas where there's threat/possibilities of Tropical Storms, and then if it happens you end up rebuilding or moving to a different location.
Can someone explain that to me? Maybe it's because I've never lived in an area thats had threat/possiblities of tropical storms.

Honestly, none of the 4 are where I plan on living for the rest of my life (I don't dislike Augusta/CSRA by any means, but college is the only thing keeping me here), if I HAD to choose 1 of these 4 places, I'd pick Savannah because of its' nice downtown/historic district and its' beaches.

Sarasota, FL. My dad's originally from Augusta so my parents decided to move back to the area (Aiken County) when I finished elementary school back in the 90s and we've been here ever since. I'm planning on moving back to Sarasota (or somewhere near there) once I'm finished with all my schoolin'.

Cool beans.

My family is considering going back to FL. We have family and friends all over but we're mainly looking at the Tampa area. I haven't looked at the economic situation too much but I wonder how jobs are right now. I know the cost of living is lower or about the same, depending where you go.

I'm basically where you're at, Dave. I don't dislike Augusta but it's good to keep options open. Being close to the beach would be neat but I've already done that so that's not a major consideration for me. It's interesting to see how opinions vary when the age gap is traversed. Whereas some may find beaches, night clubs, and colleges to be a plus, I'd rather get away from them and hang out with the old (and generally more mature) folks. Of course, there's plenty of big kids (in a bad way) out there too and you have to wonder how their parents raised them...

That being said, I really like Augusta and I wouldn't be crushed if we were "stuck" here. Then again, I haven't lived here all or even most of my life so it's different for me, I guess. I like that Augusta is a good "hub city" of sorts. We're almost right in the middle of all the places we like to travel to and everything we really need is within minutes. 8)
