Colorado you said was ugly also. IMHO, NO-WAY!!

Austin is nowhere near close to being ugly.

I know most people here are huge fans of the Congress area, but to me I do not feel that it is attractive area.

The only thing you got right about Austin is the heat w/ humidity. So I agree w/ you 50%. Austin is a very attractive city and it is green all year long and pretty lakes. It is one thing I did like seeing when I arrived from my Colorado trip.

Saying Austin is ugly is pretty harsh. Parts of Austin are pretty especially compared to other parts of Texas like Dallas or Houston and alot of other places in the US.

However I would agree there is often a disconnect. When I lived there, I discovered people who had moved to Austin from other parts of Texas and the Midwest tended to think Austin was a whole lot prettier than people from the Coastal Areas.

I guess alot depends on your frame of reference and where you have lived previously.

I think there are ugly areas every where you go. In Seattle we have Aurora
Avenue for one. Furthermore, there are small cities in Western Washington that are down right depressingly ugly (like Everett for one). Yes, parts of Austin are ugly but that has more to do with the strip malls and not the topography. I liked Austin and I miss it.

I think calling Austin ugly is harsh...not a place I'd care to live again, however I would not call it ugly.

I always thought Everett was kinda ugly too. If you miss Austin, why don't you move there and be happy. I left, so I know there is room for at least 1 more.

Out of staters -Please forgive the Austinites for being overly proud of their city. Every city has ugly parts and beautiful parts. Houston has beautiful boulevards, San Antonio old beautiful buildings and neighborhoods and surrounding hill country, Dallas has beautuful women and Austin has beautiful suburbs (Barton Springs and Lake Travis area) but all these cities have a lot of ugly parts too

Yes, I agree, very pretty. But Austin has it's beauty as well. To call it ugly is rather harsh
