This is much closer to a 'normal' spring than the past 5 or 6 years. Usually, there is a break between rains, iirc, but this works fine too .

Yes, this is a "typical" Spring. The past few years have not been typical.

May is typically our rainiest month. This entire winter/spring has been very wet.

There is going to be a TON of fuel for wildfires however if the summer is long and dry. That is my biggest worry right now.

We're getting more rain than usual this year and this month. The average monthly rainfall for May is 2.66" and we've far exceeded that, only half way through the month. June is typically our wettest month, with 4.38" on average.

The weather is Austin is usually either very dry or very wet with pattern changes each year based on El Nino. The most famous phrase is "When it rains it never stops. When it stops it never rains."

Still with all the rain, the boat ramps still aren't open on Lake Travis!

I know my A/C is liking this cool and rainy weather. My bill was like $40 for April for a 3000 sq ft house. Can't beat that!

There will most likely be mosquito, wasp, fire ant, and other insect problems later on though from all this rain. I personally am not a huge fan of persistent rain (would have stayed back in Louisiana if that is what I wanted), but our lakes still need it. I also know eventually the spigot will be turned off. Remember 2007 when we had a cool summer and then summer came late with 107 degrees in September and 97 degrees in October?

Your data ain't right. The average for May is not only 2.66". Check weather.com, weatherunderground, and some others.
