The TxDot is full of incompetent planners & engineers and has had that reputation nationwide for decades. Their thinking is still stuck in the 1960s.
Eh, during that era, Austin go next to no money for road construction from the state. The lege hated us then and now .

Holy mold allergies bat man. I had to take the day off today because I can breathe or talk. My nose is soooo stuffy and my throat hurts like crazy. I didn’t help myself by being outside yesterday morning for a long run without a mask, though. It probably won’t get better until Wednesday.

183 Toll on the east side seems like it is mostly finished and all sections seem to be open with the exception of a few ramps. I took it yesterday and it’s pretty sweet.

There’s still daily closures from the northern to southern sections. They’re wrapping up bits of the in ramps from airport/Cesar Chávez and 7th. The non-tolled lanes get closed daily during the week and really back traffic up. I usually can make it home before rush hour, but when I don’t, it gets really backed up getting onto 183 from airport/Cesar Chávez and 7th. It may be a bit better now that there’s a lane that goes directly to the unrolled side, but you need to be careful of the daily changes.

I just checked the Twitter feed. There are eight closures for today on 183S.

Since last fall my wife is ok during the day, but when she goes to bed her nose starts getting stuffy and she has coughing fits before it settles down. Our sheets are changed & laundered regularly, so maybe she’s allergic to the old guy next to her?

I just saw the mold is “high” today. I knew that’s what it was. I popped a Benadryl which helped my nose but my throat is still a mess. Planning on running a few errands today but otherwise taking a mental health day a few weeks before the end of the school year today.

Is the interchange at 183/71 by the airport finished yet?

Taking 45 to 130 down to the airport was quite a chore for us, so the new 183 expressway route from 78717 will be a boon.
We are anticipating a trip to Las Vegas before our SWA credits run out at the end of the year.

That’s the last bit that seems to be under construction. I rarely go further east than Riverside. The tolled lane from 183 to 71 west is open and is a blessing. The light at Riverside is the weirdest light I’ve ever seen in my life.

I’ll be heading to the airport in about a month, so we’ll see. I may just Uber or ask a friend to drop me off since an Uber drive might be cheaper then parking, though.

From what I could tell it looked to be finished. The new overpasses are open and all of that crazy mess they had when it was under construction is a lot better now. 71 E toward the airport to 183 N exits to the left with two lanes. 183 S to 71 E also exits left (like it did during construction) with I think two dedicated lanes. 71 W to 183 N also seems to be open. There’s still cones but it looked like all the lanes were open in that interchange.

Speaking of 130, will they raise the speed limit back to 80?
