I second Nitro. The owner and facilities are great. They work with all skill levels and will work with you to let your kids progress at their speed.

The owner actually knows each kid their which is pretty amazing.

In my opinion, you're talking about 2 different issues. My family belongs to Lifetime Fitness for the pool and activities, but for lessons my kids go to Nitro. As a former swimmer/swim instructor/swim coach myself, I have been VERY impressed with Nitro. My kids learned more in one session there than they did in 2 years of lessons at YMCA. I strongly recommend them to everyone I know.

We pay 138 a month for Lifetime Fitness - that's for 2 adults and 3 kids (they do charge per child, so if you only have 2 children, I think it's closer to 120-123 range).

it depends on your daughters own capabilities as to how fast they will progress through the stations.

It took my 6yr old son about 20 sessions to progress from station 3 (where he started) to station 8. They say a child needs to pass through the station 7 to be accepted into Intro-to-Nitro program

Yes, that price sounds right (Lifetime Fitness), as they raised their prices the month after I joined.

I agree with pp, there is a HUGE disparity as to how "fast" a child will go through the stations. My 4 year old went up to station 8 in 8 stations, but my 8 year old (NOT a strong swimmer) took 3 sessions to get up to station 10 (preschool stations and school age stations are different). Likewise, I have a friend whose 5 year old daughter did an entire session and only got to station 3. She was afraid to put her face in the water, etc.

IS there a Nitro-like swimming lessons oriented place that's closer to central Austin?
