the governor's office in texas is weak. one power he has is to appoint people to a zillion boards. Perry if reelected will have literallly been able to fill every board at every agency with his people. texas will be basically run every whichway by perry. No politician should have that much power. don't forget that rick was more than willing to condemn miles and miles of private property for his trans-tex corridor.
I encourage everyone to take a look at the real deal. Debra Medina for Texas Governor | Home

I like the fact that Rick has presided over a good fiscal climate in the state. But I am very appalled at how Rick caused Texas some serious embarassment over the seccession talk. I also don't like his lack of understanding of technical issues over which he makes policy decisions. Finally, I see him as mean spirited and arrogant. But I can't see Kay as being any better except that I don't think she's mean-spirited or arrogant.

What I wish we could have is someone with the technical and environmental understanding of Bill White, but the fiscal conservatism of Rick Perry. These characteristics don't have to be mutally exclusive.

They are both despicable, and the Democrats are not likely to get it together to run anyone viable, so I don't really care. But since these are the choices, I'll take the blonde Longhorn buffoon over the brunette Aggie idiot. ABP indeed.

KBH has always made me wanna puke. Have you seen her TV ad where she attacks healthcare reform by spreading misinformation about it being a "government takeover?"

And she also now "regrets" voting for that big bailout bill last year.
Too late Kay baby, your vote put us in the hole for billions if not trilliions.

No we dont all see that. Have the courage to have an opinion without being presumptious. You think it makes you look big but it just makes you look small.

Rick Perry, feels and acts as if he is above the law.

I lost all respect for the guy, when he told the DPS trooper to hurry up, before he was made Governor.

We need someone that is willing to make this state the same as Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Georgia and many others that have State laws to eliminate illegal aliens in the state.

State politics is best discussed in the state forum, but this thread is gathering opinions from Austin. The only politics that is not OK to discuss in state or local forums is national politics, which can only be discussed in Politics & Other Controversies.
