True - maintaining a dock on a lake with varying water levels requires attention and commitment. During drought periods in the summer, the lake can drop 1 1/2 feet per week. During floods it can rise 9 ft in one day or 23 ft in one weekend. Your dock will have to be moved in/out (our up/down depending on how you look at it) as needed.

Smart choices in the construction of your dock and the slope of the land have a great influence on how much work this is.

Many people choose to hire dock maintenance companies to do this. These companies travel by boat to your dock on a schedule or as needed and do whatever is required to position the dock.

My recommendation would be to look at Lake Buchanan, if you don't mind being a bit further out.
