My husband wants to convince me to move to Wollongong or Broom instead of the Mornington Peninsula (south of Melbourne). What do you think??

Ah well........ I lived in Sydney for 23 years, just north of Wollongong, as for Broome in WA, it's a lot different to Sydney and Melbourne.

What is the attraction to these towns? I'm curious.

If you want a cosmopolitan city go to Melbourne.
If you want rural go to Broome.

Actually Broome isn't rural.....It's a coastal resort town!, Known for being the home of a large pearl industry, The entrance to the Kimberley Region and having a diverse multicultural makeup, Of many asian and european people...With a once very large Japanese Contingent, Many of whom were pearl divers or workers and many still have decendants living there.

Also, Despite their fellow Japanese countrymen bombing the town during World War Two! , Broome still holds the "Shinju Matsuri" (Pearl Festival) and has a large Japanese Cemetary.

It's actually a very nice place to visit.

I'm wondering if there is a job in this move or are you retired or....

I have several very close friends who live in Wollongong and we visit and stay whenever we're in Australia. Wollongong is a large coastal city with the largest steel works in the southern hemisphere. It is far from the prettiest city in Australia although it is nice in parts surrounding Wollongong, but I'm wondering what the attraction is there?

Broome I can understand because it's not a very large city with a huge steel works nearby and there is endless accessible ocean and beaches nearby with a much more laid back lifestyle. It is a long way from the nearest city (Perth) though so that has to be considered.

And the Mornington Peninsula is lovely, touristy, with lots of water nearby and fairly close to Melbourne.

They're all such diverse areas, it has me wondering...?
