LOL I like your theory. Friend was visiting here for a while, and decided that feeding the unsuspecting American that stuff would be funny...

I got him back before he went home though. Convinced him to eat chitlins...

Serves him right for tricking me into thinking those were Australian peanut butter brands his mother had sent him.....You should have seen his face when I told him what he was really eating.

Never tried chitlins, (I'd like to though )
but one of my favorite Chinese Dim Sum dishes is "tripe."
There's very few things I won't eat, but I don't "like" everything either.

I was gonna say 'no you dont' before I read that you like tripe.
Hm...tripe flavored licorice-roasted tim tams anyone??
Have you (as in, anyone reading this) ever had Dutch licorice? O. M. G.
It's not...quite what you'd expect from 'licorice'.
Often sold here in Brit candy stores for some inexplicable reason.

I am a born Southerner, but there are a few native dishes in my home region that I will not eat Chitlin's are one of them, pickled pigs feet another...and if tripe is what I think it is (Sheeps stomach?)....you have a stronger stomach than I do (in more ways than one!).

The tripe they served in Dim Sum tasted similar to squid (aka. "calamari)...
(though I also know most Caronlinians refer to squid as "bait." )

I've eaten a lot of chicken's feet, and I believe I've had some pig's feet.
(also Dim Sum; coated in a Chinese BBQ sauce. )
Never tried "pickeled pigs feet" though.

Lmao.
Nah, to me, pig's and chickens feet tastes no-different than eating ribs;
just a different distribution of skin, fat and meat in proportion to the bones.

Yes, I believe dutch licorice has no sugar, and actually is kinda salty...
Come to think of it, sounds like Vegemite, only Dutch licorice is saltier,
is quite hard even to chew and has an "anise" aroma instead of "Guinness" aroma.

It probably wouldn't surprise you now that I'm looking forward to trying Wichetty-grub; I hear they're like scrambled-eggs.

mini, there's a new Tim Tams commercial on the tele here lately and it's advertisting the new improved Dark Tim Tams. It's not unsimilar to this ad for the regular Tim Tams only they say something else about them being irresistable or something....(can't remember the exact wording but I'll try and write it down.) Anyway, every time it comes on, I think of you.
