One thing no one is mentioning is back in the day the competition was nothing like today. There were probably only 10 cars that could actually win. Today the competition is much greater with many of the drivers being capable of winning! I am not disagreeing or agreeing with anyone just making an observation....

Maybe a handful of "Teams" but nowdays each team has several cars/drivers so many more cars are competitive. Guess we can agree to disagree on this one. In my opinion the competition is much harder today then years ago!

I will agree with you there, no more "the only car on the lead lap" victories. Parity has worked. Probably misunderstood your OP.
