Mine was a blue 1966 VW bug in 1975. The next year I got a 1966 International Scout.

Got my first car in 1986. It was a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro with the 250 cid inline 6 cylinder. It was a POS. It had been sideswiped and I later discovered that one of the cylinders did not work. Every window leaked water when it rained or I washed the car. Water also leaked into the trunk. Was given a choice of $1,200 to rebuild the engine or $1,200 to buy and install a rebuilt engine (and this was from my uncle who ran his own auto repair shop). We bought the car for $1,000. Sold the car and bought something else. I told the guy who bought my car about the engine. He didn't care. He had a 350 ready to install and turn it into a race car.

My Grandfather got a new 2-dr Chevy Impala in 1961. The dealer was only offering him $200 trade in for his 1953 Olds 4-door so he told me I could have it for $100. I bought it and drove it for one year when I traded up for a 1957 Olds. The 1953 was a good car but the passenger side door had a nasty thing about coming open when taking a hard left corner. It scared the hell out of one girl friend when that happened but she did get a lot closer to me after that.

Mine was a 71 F100 that we bought in 97 when I was 15. Bought it off a SDPD mechanic who bought it from a police auction. Came to find out the truck had been used to smuggle pot from Tijuana. They had put a trap door under the seat that gave them access to the gas tank located underneath. The tank had been removed by SDPD as evidence, so I only had the little tank behind the seat. Interior had the good ol' TJ tuck n roll job on the dash and the seat. It had the 360 FE block that was notorious for leaking exhaust manifolds (tick tick tick). 4 wheel drums were real fun, as was it's tendency to stall when coming to a stop. Spent many a school night with my dad in the garage just trying to get it running the next day for school. Still, it was a fun vehicle to have, especially when it came to park it next to all the hand-me-down Lexuses and Bimmers at my high school.

My first car was a hand-me-down from my parents back in high school: a '88 Pontiac Grand Am. What a piece of junk, it became too unreliable to really go anywhere out of town with once it had about 80k miles on it and was completely dead at about 100k.

The fist car I actually bought myself was a 2009 Infiniti G37x.

The first vehicle given to me for my exclusive use was a 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-55 with a 1H diesel conversion. Army green, 4-speed manual, 31" tires with very mild lift.

The first vehicle I bought with my own money was a 1995 Lexus LS400. Two tone dark blue over platinum gray and light gray interior. Nakamichi sound system was the only option I believe. I don't think they offered adjustable rear seat with massager and cool box in the US version.

It was late 1991 @ age 15, my dad bought me my first car... a 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille... how I miss that car! I turned 16 on March 5, 1992, but took my driving test in my aunts "nearly new" 1991 Honda Accord. lol.

Do you remember your first car and when it was you had it?

'74 Plymouth Scamp
color: dark brown

'78 Mustang
color: silver

'84 Honda Prelude
color: candy apple red

The Honda was the first car I bought on my own.
