I had a bright yellow 1973 340 Plymouth Duster. The car had some motor work done, black interior with buckets and a rare fold down rear seat option. Sadly in less than a year I smashed it. Had I know then what I do know I would have kept the car put a quarter panel on it and backed halfed it. At the time I basically just thought the car was totaled. I was 16..
Don't feel bad, I had to sell a nice '61 Corvette for $1500 in '69 when I went to Vietnem.
my first car was a 1966 mustang "C" code coupe. i got it in oct 1976, i sold it in the early 80s to a friend of mine, and bought it back later on. i still have that car.
First car was a hand me down from Dad. A rusty, black, 1956 Pontiac 4 door sedan. Not exactly what a 16 yr old boy wants to drive but hey, it ran.
I got a part time job at a local used car dealer working after school and one day we got in a 1956 Dodge 2 door hartop. Three tone paint job, FINS, push button automatic, no rust, and a good looking car that ran great.
That was the first car I bought with my own money. It was a good car. And the 318 V8 sounded great with glass pack mufflers. Sure would like to have another one.
Fast forward about 47 years, and I now have a 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe unrestored in nice shape that is my baby. I like them old Mopars.
1993 Chevy Corsica. They didn't have the best reputation, but this one ran for forever beautifully and only died once it was killed in an accident. Was in beautiful condition Miss that car. Dont have pics anymore but it looked exactly like this:
66' Chevelle 2dr hdtop when i was 16 ( in '78 ); 327 stick and 4.11's in the back. Took awhile to learn how to drive that smoothly, but boy once I got the hang of dumping that clutch to roast the tires in front of the guys ( errr, i mean smoothly engage the drivetrain for a legal take off.. ) that car was a blast.
I dont know how many times though I found myself slinging the car sideways.... and killing it as I'd slide right across the bench seat ( so that's what the seat belt was for! ). Ended up getting another '66 when I was 18; just wish back then i could have appreciated them more but they were a common used car and like many out there just I didnt realize what I had at the time.
