My first vehicle was a 70-something Kawasaki KE 100. LOVED that thing. First car was a Mercury Bobcat. It only lasted a few months before it died. Hated that thing. (Followed up with a 1979 4 door Sedan De Ville, which was an awesome car to have when you're a kid. 20 feet long, full sized car with a 7 litre V8. Rawr!)

1995 Integra sedan. Met its fate when some uninsured redneck rear-ended me 50 mph.

My first car was a used, 1970 DeTomaso Pantera GT5 bought by my father for me in 1972. I believe he paid $3200 for it from a neighbor of ours. For graduating valedictorian from high school and getting accepted to West Point. There by saving him a "tonne of moolah" as he put it, in college tuition. Got to drive the car all of 1 month, from the time he purchased it until I had to report for Beast Week. The car was put up in storage in the family garage and not driven again until 1980. After I graduated college and returned from my first tour overseas in the Republic of Korea. Drove it again for about 2 years while stationed at Ft. Knox in Kentucky where I met my wife, and got married. We enjoyed driving it all over the Blue Grass state until she said one day, "Surprise" if you can fit a baby car seat in it you can keep it, I couldn't and we sold it. I really love my oldest daughter but I do miss that car.

1971 Camaro, bought in 1978 when i was 18 .... this color gold, but without the black striping and it had the off-white interior:

not an RS, not an SS, not a z-28.... just a plain ol' camaro.... LOVED that car, but sold it after about 2-1/2 years when it turned 100K miles.... and i came into a small insurance settlement.....

have to wonder if your cutlass was the same pale, flat minty green that my 79 Buick Regal was.... the car that replaced my Camaro .... it had the T-Top roof, but was otherwise a monumental P.O.S. .... oddly enough, the ex and i bought a new Regal in 1999 that was an AWESOME car.... guess GM learned a lot about quality control in those intervening 20 years....

Every window leaked water when it rained or I washed the car. Water also leaked into the trunk. Was given a choice of $1,200 to rebuild the engine or $1,200 to buy and install a rebuilt engine (and this was from my uncle who ran his own auto repair shop). We bought the car for $1,000. Sold the car and bought something else. I told the guy who bought my car about the engine. He didn't care. He had a 350 ready to install and turn it into a race car.
sounds suspiciously like my friend's 1977 Camaro ... she had hers at the same time that I had my '71....

I bought a 1964 Plymouth Fury for $120 in 1975.
It had a push-button automatic transmission, and even though it was a tank, it would git-up-n-GIT. It had sat up for several years and had mold growing on the inside; bleach took care of that, and the engine was a jewel.
Only problem was that all of the transmission gaskets were blown. I would park, get out, slide a pan underneath. When I got back to the car, I'd pour the fluid back in and off I'd go. I drove it for three years, from SC to TX and then to NM, when my ex traded it in on a cheap Nissan pickup. That was the beginning of the end of THAT marriage!

Very neat car! What year is that car? I have always been facinated by those, it looks like our USA version 1971 Chevrolet Caprice cars in a way with some of the styling. I guess that was the overseas version? Also those are the same wheelcovers that I have on my 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville!

hey Tennesseestorm, Thanks! I've always driven wagons since I gotmy license, as my dad has a ford wagon (2 years older than mine) and my mum a Mitsubishi Magna wagon, so I've become accustomed to them. I find them easier to drive aswell, as what you see out the rear window is where your rear-end is, unlike with a sedan where it's hard to see the rear end when you're reversing. Plus I love the extra cargo space and the ability to fold down the rear seat and sleep in it if need be! It's a nice car, drives very well and on LPG it costs less than $10 per 100km to run. On petrol it's a bloody rocket.... 215 horsepower mate! The V8 version uses a 300hp+ Canadian-built Windsor 5.7 liter V8 but the 4.1 liter V6, like mine, is that powerful that the V8 was only considered a minor improvement and proved to be rather unpopular!

I think it's from the '70's, back when cars had style

I should note that's not the exact car my mate had, but a model very similar to that. Same model, but a few minor differences here and there. Most Holdens of this era, including the Kingswood, a popular family car here in the 70's and 80's, had Chevrolet/GMC engines and American styling on the front with their quad headlights and grille and hood style.
