Thx guys. We have 1 child and her last car was a Honda Pilot...we hardly ever used the third row. I am really trying to get her in a two row crossover. The SRX and Lexus are both good choices.

If you don't need the 3rd row then I'd definitely get either the Caddy or the Lexus. Quite a bit easier to maneuver, better gas mileage, and still has all the comforts of a big SUV with a better price. I'm a big fan of the current SRX, stylish and affordable with technology everywhere.
In my family we need three rows, but I still think it can be very nice for smaller families to have it for the occasions when you might need it, like when the in-laws visit. The key is picking the right sized vehicle. Someone mentioned the Acura MDX and this might be a great choice. Yes, it has three row seating, but it is really designed for occasional use and they maximize the primary seating areas. You also aren't paying any "penalties" in terms of MPG or being oversized in exchange for the added convenience.
Really, why not buy a sedan or wagon instead of a car that is trying to look like a SUV but can't do what a traditional SUV is meant for?
Ugh, you're getting me started on this. I had a 328xi loaner for a few days and getting my 2 kids into & buckled in the back seat was horrendous. I'm assuming the OP has kids in mind if he wants 3rd row... so the height thing of a crossover/SUV is a big bonus. They are usually wider too for interior space - so overlooked until I got back in my SUV. No wagons or sedans if you can help it! Once you go bigger (having kids), you won't go back.
BTW, I would vote for the CX-9. The MDX would definitely be nicer overall, but more $$$. Most of these SUV 3rd rows are for limited use... if you want proper 3rd rows for longer trips, you'll need a minivan (sliding doors are optimal too). Have you seen the back of an Odyssey? Wow.
- Audi Q7
- Mercedes GL350
- BMW X5 (3rd row available)
- Infiniti QX56 (my favorite)
- GMC Yukon Denali (second favorite)
- Lincoln MKT
- Cadillac SRX
If you want a new SUV for ~$40k loaded up with a 360hp v8, you should check out a Dodge Durango Citadel.
