Regular gas is still at $3.82/gal here, though strangely Diesel is $3.99/gal. Which means 'if' we had a chance at some of those fuel efficient 45mpg diesel European cars we would all be saving money.

The last time I bought gas (July 21), it was at $3.69/gal for reg unleaded. When I bought it this morning, it had jumped up to $3.89/gal! It cost me over $61 to fill my tank, the most I've ever spent filling up my car. This new car has a somewhat larger tank (18.5 gal vs 17 gal) than my last car, so I've been trying not to let it run down below 1/4 full.

What angers me most about these gas prices it that it literally costs me more money to fill up the tank of my car than it does to buy myself a week's groceries.

Back in mid-June I saw diesel the same or even less than regular at a few stations.

$3.69 to $3.89 for the $61 in gas you purchased represents a whole $3 increase in total.

Actually, I paid $10 more in total for the tank of gas this week, because I had let the gas gauge get down one notch below the 1/4 mark this time.

But still, 20 cents increase is 11 days is a big enough jump, I think.

I wish it was that cheap here. It's been $3.79 for weeks at the stations in town. Even Costco is at $3.49, but that's 20 miles (each way) out of the way.

Same here. Diesel is always cheaper in summer, and goes up in winter when more heating oil is made
from the same crude products as diesel.

I don't know why people are so upset. It cost me about $25.00 to fill my tank in the 80's when I was making 1/3 of the money I'm making now. Now it cost's me $50.00. Gas is still really cheap.
