I've read it allows you tires to wear evenly, but if you car is properly aligned, I don't see how. Personally I've Never rotated my tires, Ever. I have 32k on my front tires and 112k on the rear tires I can't see how rotating them would make them last any longer than they have.

The idea is that they should wear out at approximately the same time. That way, you're always replacing all four tires at the same time with equally capable rubber in all driving conditions.

This is very important in winter weather and rainy weather at highway speeds.

Plus, the tire carcass isn't built to go that many miles. Despite the appearance of low tread wear, the sidewall still has been through 112,000 miles worth of rotations, each rotation flexing the sidewall where the rubber meets the road. So there is that hidden wear, which could eventually cause a serious blowout.

Please replace the rears ASAP with something equal to the fronts, and start rotating them. You'll be a lot safer and so will everyone else.

Yes. It's done during routine oil changes and my mechanincs shop figures out when to do it. Once a year I think.

Regularly rotate my tires. I buy all four tires with my local tire dealer and get them rotated every 6 months.

I didn't rotate because I wanted to wear out the fronts and put some different tires there. However, when I got to the tire store, they would only put them on the back. I ended up getting all four, and the first rotation is coming up soon. I'll start doing it again.

Believe what you want. They are the same tires since I purchased the car. It's true they are past due to be replaced, but they are not completely bold.. yet When I replaced the front tires at 80k, I had sticker shock. Last time I purchased tires, decent tires were $35 each, now you can't buy cheap tires for less than $65. Most of the miles are country driving miles, so that may help to explain the mileage on them.

Yeah, I have the same problem. Can only 'rotate' them, as in rears swapped, and fronts swapped, and to do that they have to be unmounted from the rims and moved. Since they only have a life expectancy of 30K or so, I just forget it.

Be thankful if your car calls for tires that you can buy for $65.00 each. I'm about to change 4 tires (225 /50-17) on our 07 Fusion SEL. I'm replacing them with the same tires that the car came with (MichelinPilot HX MXM4). It will cost me $810.00 bucks out the door mounted, balanced, road hazard for all 4 and that's for a middle of the road priced tire.

And you passed NJ safety inspection with those tires?
