lol,you mean all the folks who paid over 5k for a wristwatch just can't leave them alone? Redundancy, why carry 2 time peaces?

but then some think, hey look at my expensive watch, I must be successful.

Mostly, the separate radio and clock are holdovers from when car's didn't necessarily have multiple displays for time.
Yes I remember back the 70's when cars had analog clocks (that mostly didn't work), my Moms old '77 Caprice had one. In the early 80's digital radios became common and most clocks were integrated into them.

But, in some cars (like current Toyotas) it's like they design the dash, and then say "oops, we forgot the clock", so they just stick one in there. It looks like an afterthought.

My watch cost me under $100. It's easier to look at than checking my phone... the watch scene isn't just about $5k watches.

Again.. up on the dash in the direction of where your line of sight should be while looking ahead and down the road...afterthought? Really?

Yes, that is exactly what happens.

My watch cost me $599

It's high quality and never needs battery replacement

My Forester has a separate clock. Confused the heck out of me the 1st month I owned the car, haha. I figured it was just another strange Subaru design choice. Thermometer built in the dash, but a clock? Pfft, who needs one of those?

The reason I didn't notice it at first was because it's built into the ceiling in a position where you don't naturally look + it wasn't even working. After some Googleing I found out that my car did in fact have a clock, took it apart, re-soldered it, and yay I have a working clock! Looking back on it I feel like a moron, how did I not realize that it was a clock?

That's kind of a funny position for sure. I've seen a number of cars put a compass up there somewhere though. And yeah, one might think the H and M buttons would be a fairly obvious giveaway that it's a clock.

I like the quartz clock in my 1978 Datsun 510. You can hear it clicking off the seconds even with the keys out. Same in my '82 Vanagon. Heck with digital!

How often do you have to wind it?
