I've been in a 2012 Camry and it is smooth but it's no smoother than my 2008 Accord.

Did you drive both on highways and shopping malls with speed bumps?

I tested both 2012 camry hybrid and 2012 accord and chose camry hybrid because of smooth and quieter ride. That was for my wife. I drive 2007 camry hybrid and like it slightly better than 2012 camry hybrid for the same.

With the Camry, the difference between the 4cyl and v6 xle is night and day. The v6 is pretty powerful while the 4cyl feels very economic and lackluster.

Esp at high alt. like here, 4 cyl would be red lining going up the rockies.

I am the original poster here. I am comparing the regular LE vs. XLE and the LX vs. EX.

I thought the LE and XLE are by default V6? I have never seen a XLE with 4?

Nope.... XLE comes in both 2.5 4cyl and 3.5 V6. And it's been like that since the 90's.
Starting with the 2012 model year, there is no longer an LE V6 model... LE's are now only 4 cylinder or Hybrid models.

Your comments regarding the 4 cylinder Camry lacking power that it has to redline at high altitude are completely wrong. I have a 2012 Camry SE 4cyl, I live in Denver and drive up to the mountains all the time, I-70, Vail Pass, Loveland Pass, Berthoud Pass, you name it-- no problem whatsoever with power unless if your car is fully loaded with 4 adults-- even then you'll be going slower but won't have to max out the engine. With one or two people in the car, it has plenty of power going up hills. True, the V6 is an AWESOME engine and is MUCH more powerful and fun, but the 4 cyl still gets the job done.

The LE model Camry would be a fine car if it wasn't for one unfortunate thing-- the ugly ghetto plastic hub caps. Starting with the 2012 model year, Toyota no longer offers alloy wheels as an option on the LE... if you want a car that looks like a respectable vehicle with real wheels, you have to get either an SE or and XLE... or replace the stock steel wheels with something aftermarket. I HATE hubcaps. The cost to upgrade the wheels and tires on the LE to the same stock ones offered on the XLE can be more than $2,000... at that point, may as well just buy a base XLE 4cyl with cloth seats. The cloth seats on the XLE are slightly nicer fabric than the cloth seats on the LE. On the 2007-2011 model Camry XLE's with cloth seats, there used to be a logo on the seats saying "Fraichir" which was some kind of proprietary fabric treatment process... don't know if they still do that, but I can tell you that from the 2012 MY cars I looked at, the XLE fabric feels nicer than the LE fabric, even though they both visually look the same and have the same colors and pattern.

On the Accord, the 2013 LX would be fine if it weren't for the crappy stereo... only 4 speakers, missing the tweeters which you can only get if you get the EX model. Fortunately, the Accord LX (unlike the Camry LE) now comes with alloy wheels standard. Also, in past years, the EX model Accord usually has nicer quality, softer and smoother cloth material than the LX cloth seats. Haven't spent enough time comparing EX vs LX on the 2013 model year to determine if this is still the case.

I have not driven a 2013 Accord yet, but I have driven every generation and model of Camry and Lexus ES from 1992-present, used to own a 2007 Accord and have test driven a 2012 (previous gen) Accord. The Camry has a smoother ride than the Accord as long as you are talking LE/ XLE. The Camry SE has a lousy ride-- in fact, I feel I totally blew it on my car and should have got an LE/ XLE. You feel every single bump in the road, big or small. The 2007 Accord I used to drive had an excellent suspension-- the small bumps and road imperfections would be absorbed without you even noticing, and you would feel the big bumps and the overall "contour" of the road. Not sure if this comparison is still true since they dropped the double wishbone setup in the 2013 Accord. The steering feel in the '07 (and '08-'12) Accords was great compared to the Camry SE (or any Camry) steering feel. So basically, the Accord makes the slightly harsher ride compared to an LE/XLE Camry worth it, whereas the Camry SE is no more fun to drive than the LE/XLE and it is harsher. The SE is much cooler looking, however.

That's true. The 4-cylinders are still standard in the EX Accord and XLE Camry. V6 optional. The V6 was (probably still is) available even in the LE Camry.

As mentioned before, I don't think its worth the extra $3K for an EX or XLE when the base models seem to have a lot of standard features.

A little O/T, but as far as the engines go, I must say I love the 3.5L V6 available in the Accord. I actually have a brand new 2013 Honda Odyssey LX van with the same engine and it is SILKY smooth!!

LOL. I don't know who designed those wheel covers, but they are some of the ugliest ones I've seen.
