No, we just pay the most federal taxes that support poor red states. You can thank me later.

Keep electing liberals that buy into the global warming ("climate change"; "climate disruption") myth and the government will be mandating hybrids in a few years....

1000% agree! I'm definitely NOT a Hybrid car type of person. Never will be.

All versions of the Toyota Prius make me almost physically ill and although I like the new Ford Fusion & Escape, make mine a non-hybrid please!

Dictating the method rather than the goal gets in the way of innovation. If all cars were mandated to be hybrids, you'd never see all the other great innovations going on right now in the automotive world. This includes direct injection, the increased use of turbos, improvements in diesel emissions technology, the use of lighter materials, etc.

If there is to be any mandate at all, it's better for the government to dictate the endgame (get your MPGs up) rather than dictate the technology.

Mike

If Top Gears petrol head, James May bought an electric car then electric cars are cool with me. He picked it up yesterday.
Who wouldn't want a car that gets great fuel mileage?

The Prius was the best selling car in California in 2012 and 2013, and ranks second behind the Civic so far this year through April 30th.

But since imports have dominated auto sales in California for upwards of three decades, nobody should be surprised.

Hybrids just don't make sense for a lot of us in the first place.

BBC Top Gear's James May: I'm Buying A BMW i3 Electric Car

There is a reason James May is called Capt. Slow. Call me when Jeremy Clarkson buys an electric car(that's not sporty) I would rather have a car that is fun to drive.

You mean, "Why not require that all cars be Obamacars?"?

His other car is a ferrari... Electric and hybrids are fine but it will be over my dead body when this government tells me what to drive
