Yep, the new 2018 still has a V6 option. Buyers will have to pay more of a premium for it, but it's still available and should be for years to come. I like the new Camry from what I've seen.

I've been driving my 16' Sonata Hybrid now for a bit over a year. That thing has some serious get-up-and-GO!

that's why I chose an Azera over a Sonata - smooth V6, whisper quiet and enough power

not to mention it was cheaper (I drove a Sonata Limited compared to a base Azera, but the features were almost the same except for a sunroof)

and had 15k miles instead of 45k

For a short while we had a Lincoln MKC with Ford's 2.0L turbo 4 under the hood. If all turbo 4's drive as well as that engine did, I do not think I would ever miss a V6. That motor had no noticeable lag with instant power and torque, and a broad, flat, and linear power curve. Driving and passing was a breeze, and it towed our somewhat light training (1000 lbs) without any struggle whatsoever. If it isn't enough power, Ford's 2.3L turbo is even more impressive IMO.

I personally prefer V6's over 4 cyl cars. Actually, I used to be a big V8 car, until I saw what could be done with a modern V6.

Even the 4-cyl's are getting better. I test drove a new Taurus with the 2.0 turbo, and even for a 4500lb car, it got around fine. I ended up going with the 3.5 V6 however as it seemed a lot more torquier down low.

Love the 4.3L V8 in my LS430. Refinement and smoothness is out of this world. Also, torque. I can drive (waft) without exceeding 2200RPM--and still stay well ahead of traffic.

This lovely motor is just another reason I plan to drive it until the end of time. Just doesn't get much better than a buttery smooth V8.
V8's and Flat 6's are my fav engines.

But they’re essentially the last stalwart. It would be unfortunate to “have to” buy a BMW just to get a 6-cylinder engine with true RWD.

In my opinion, the real loss of performance-aspect was the switch from RWD to FWD. Engines of all kinds – including 4-cylinder – are becoming smoother, more efficient and more powerful. Which is great. Now if only the chassis were similarly poised!

You just described my Sonata, except that it's a 4. Smooth, quiet, and more than enough power. Jet-engine level acceleration....beyond anything I've experienced in a car for decades.

I truly am amazed, having driven and insisted on V-8s for 50 years. Getting to know this car is a little like being re-born.

Horsepower seems to have increased with improvements in engine design. MPG has increased as well. We have a 2011 Accord with the 4 cylinder and it seems equal to my 1971 Oldsmobile in terms of getting out of its way. The Olds could easily hit 120 where it pegged out. Not sure how fast hat car could go as I pegged the speedo at 120. I have never had the Accord over 85 but it still has power to spare. The Olds never got the MPG that the Accord gets.

With normal around town driving both can get up to speed just fine. Also late model Accords can hold 5 adults nicely. If it did not have a center console I could easily get three across the front. Nothing like the older smaller Accords.
