Was driving in from Ohio to PA on I-70. Saw a guy pulled over taking the drunk test. I wondered what is the total bill for towing, impound, fine and the legal / court mess from your first DUI? Anyone have an estimate?

Thanks

Many drunks have 2-3 DUI and have suspended licenses they are still found behind the wheel. They may owe a ton of money and judgements. Some are just too behind finances for any agency to do anything. Any jail sentences are just a few days of stay and let out. A drunk just need to find a nice girl to get get behind the wheel. I know a girl who dated one that could never be able to get a car but she was just too nice to leave him. She doesn't realize how much harm she can cause.

First? That sort of implies that there is/will be more than one. I don't drink and drive, so it's not something I worry about. I drink, but don't drive if I do. Fortunately my husband doesn't drink at all now, so he's my DD.
Plus we live pretty rurally, so we hardly ever go out for dinner and that would be the only time I'd have a drink.

Got one in 1972. I think it cost me in the neighborhood of five grand back then. The mandatory high risk insurance was a killer. All of that paled in comparison however to how I felt about letting my mom down by doing such a stupid thing.
I can honestly say I never did it again. Not even close.

I have no plans of ever finding out. But $10k to $15k is the usual amount per ads I've seen in the newspaper. A lot more if you injure someone. And way worse if you kill someone.
