What are the speed limits of the roads in your area? What are your thoughts on the limits?

In my immediate area:

TX-199 is 60MPH and should be at least 65 if not 70.
I-820 is 65 Eastbound and 60 Westbound and should be 70 both ways as they have a large concrete divider.
FM- 730 is 35 in the major area near Walmart and shops, but opens up to 65 once you clear the school zones and shopping areas. This is a one lane road each direction and is not divided. 65 is generous given the lack of divider. If this road is 65, there is no excuse for multi-lane divided freeways to be at least 65.

In southern Calif. the limit on the freeways is 65 but you better be doing 80 if your in the left lane or your the problem. Highway patrol doesn't pull you over at 80 provided the group is doing the same, it's even creeping up to 85.

Almost all surface street are densely populated, so 30 MPH

The pike is 65
I-290 varies from 45 to 65, and it's only 20.0 miles long
Route 9 varies from 30 to 55
Route 146 varies from 45 to 65

Speed limits in the Chicago area are fine for the most part since they've finally been raised on the freeways/tollways away from the dense urban expressways. But once you reach the vast, mostly empty expanses in the rest of the state, the 70mph interstate speed limit is just too low.

Speed limit is normally local police tolerance. We have anything from 20mph to 70mph. In some areas, they will fine you for 1 mile over. Small towns. On some FWYs, you can go 80 on 60 and be the slowest car.

Got to know your local police preferences.

30 on all city neighborhood streets
2 lane highways are maybe 60
Freeways in city are 55, 60, and then 70 once leaving core area.
South Dakota was awesome, 80 on freeways. Set my cruise at 88 and cut noticeable time off my commute. MT with 70 on two lane highways was also great (SD might also be 70?)

The two big limited access roads in Massachusetts, I-95 and I-90, are both 65mph. Lesser highways are 55mph, and county highways usually run anywhere from 25mph in residential areas in town to 55mph in rural countryside.

The typical maximum speed limit for Texas roads is 70 MPH. However, the Texas Transportation Commission may set a speed limit of 75, 80, or even 85 MPH if a traffic or engineering study finds that a particular road can be safely travelled at those speeds.

Texas law sets out specific speed limits in various situations if no speed limit signs are posted. A universal speed limit of "30 mph" in urban districts where no specific speed limit signs are posted.

TX hwy 130 toll road has posted speed limit 85mph (not noted on the map)

I just wish all speed signs change to: Minimum speeds of 60mph.

More accidents are caused by cars doing 15-20mph below the avg speed of other cars on the road.

On a regular open street cars doing 40mph on a 3 lane road then suddenly you have 1-2 cars doing 25-27mph side by side. That causes traffic problems and accidents more than cars doing 50mph.
