Think? They know... GM is booming corporation at its finest, it is unlikely they will fail.
The headlines from today don't bode well for GM.. at the very best, they're far behind the technology curve when compared to other companies that are already heavily invested in newer technologies (Honda, BMW).

Time will tell... GM always seems to pull itself out of situations. I have to disagree on your technology curve comment, unless you can provide some sort of references.

GM wasn't really on board with alternative energy vehicles until a few years ago while Toyota had teams looking at the issue in the mid 90s. And the Volt was only pushed about two years ago.
I'm all for progress.. I just don't think GM will be the one leading the push (although deep, deep down I am hoping the Volt is a revolutionary success).
According to Edmunds, the Volt can deliver triple-digit mpg and go 640 miles without recharging. For real?
Yes, it's supposed to have a range of 640 miles, but that's not on a single electrical charge. After the battery pack is depleted (about 40 miles, more or less), then on-board gasoline engine fires up to generate the electricity to drive the electric motor to turn the car's wheels.
Keep in mind, the referenced quote was from January 2007 ... at best, it's an educated guess. They're still noodling over how to get the battery to work.

they won't fail because hank the tank and helicopter ben won't allow them to.
OK, "Helicopter Ben" is Ben Bernake, chairman of the Federal Reserve...but "Hank the Tank"?
henry paulson. sorry it's just my nickname for him because he reminds me of will ferrell in "old school". when ever he testifies he always seems as though he's been caught by his wife doing something that he shouldn't be doing!
