My mom got my car stuck yesterday in the snow. She turned off the car and I went today to start it up. It starts but the engine won't go. I tried shoveling the snow out of its way. Still no good. Is the snow the problem or is my engine dead? When I turn the keys the car tries to rev but to no good. And its very cold right now, -6F and wind chill.
Does the engine run at all?
The gas pedal makes the revs go up...not the keys.
Shoveling the snow will not make the engine run.
Maybe the engine is running and the wheels are spinning in the snow or ice.
Cannot read your mind and incomplete info.
Sorry...Steve

I will try again. I go into the car but the engine doesn't rev. It tries but then stops.
Will try again.
Put the key in the ignition..turn to the right...engine should try to start via the noise you hear.
Does it seem to be running and then stops DEAD quiet?
Does this happen 3-4 times?
You could have a dampness or maybe a fuel problem due to the cold weather.
Is it a older model with a Carb or later FI (fuel injection)?.
You say car was running when initally stuck in the snow...probably the dampness and cold weather after sitting a while.

I'm confused.
Does the engine start up and run, or not?
If it does NOT start up and run, you may simply need to jump start it. It is, after all, VERY cold!
If it DOES start up and run, but runs poorly, you might have snow packed up in the engine compartment.
It's a fair bet that, either way, a day in a heated garage would do a world of good. Good luck!
Ok, I can get the car to start. But the engine won't run. I keep hearing cunk and thats it. It won't go anywhere else. Again the car turns on radio, air, lights, but the car won't move when i press the gas and the engine won't roar. If there is snow do I try and pick it out?

Here's the way our language works (and I don't mean this to be nasty)...
If the car starts, the engine is running.
So... does the engine start up and run? If it does, you should be able to let it run for awhile, and warm up thoroughly. That could make a big difference.
