Ok folks - this poll is much like the station wagon thread, but only different cars. I thought since the other was such a success that I would start a new one for the luxury cars of that era.

I thought I would go a year older this time, because most people prefer 1972 over 1973, because of smaller bumpers.

Its 1972 and you have a choice of one of these new American luxury cars for free....

I apologize - I could not find many interior photos of the 72 Cadillacs, but found a lot of exterior photos - more than I could of the Lincoln and Imperial. I will as more as I find them.

1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille

1972 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham (Cadillac offered this even more luxurious extended wheelbase model)

1972 Lincoln Continental

Great photos of true luxury cars!

I voted for the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, however I would pick a series Seventy-Five Limousine over a FB.

Though the '72 Lincoln Continental is extremely close in 2nd place. In fact, if I had more experience with a '72 Lincoln, I may have put that in 1st place.

The bottom photo shows the interior of a '71 Fleetwood Brougham I used to own. Should be very similar to a '72...

Default my choice would

be the Imperial, tho those bucket seats in the ad look a bit on the spartan side for a luxury car(the bench seats look good however)

None of the above. I'd go with a Cadillac ElDorado convertible. If you are going to have a fun car, the top might as well go down.

eBay Motors: Cadillac : Eldorado (item 360121153739 end time Jan-23-09 23:02:48 PST)

Another choice would be to go for a '70 Coupe deVille convertible.... Those were great cars...

The Continental. Last of the small bumpers with slab sides.
Second would be the Imperial only because you'd not see another at a car show for several years.
Caddy...no thanks. Spent quite some time in a identical(brand new) to the colors even, twin of the top picture. Didn't impress me at all.

Beautiful Fleetwood Fleet!

Thanks for that interior photo. Yep, that interior is much the same. One neat thing about those is that some had a solid cloth, some had a fancier brocade cloth and some had leather. I like the brocade cloth.

I chose the Lincoln, but if the Cadillac has the 500 cid engine it would be a tough choice. Thats my favorite lincoln style wise.

Oh really? Interesting to hear from someone that had a new Caddy in 1972! What did you dislike about yours? I have had a 1972 Cadillac and a 1972 Lincoln. Mechanically, the Lincoln seemed better (engine seemed more durable), but as far as electrical systems, door panel quality, and some other things- the Cadillac shined over the Lincoln, especially over our 1976 Lincoln we had. It always had power window and signal light issues.

Yes, I like the Lincoln too... I like them all, but I picked the Fleetwood Brougham. I have always been a fan of these big American luxury cars, especially Cadillac. My first car was a 72' Sedan DeVille back in 1992. My grandmother had a Lincoln like those in the ads, but hers was a 1971, which was identical, save for different taillight lenses and grille.

Those Cadillacs had the 472 engine. The Eldorado had the 500. My grandmother had a 73' Eldorado 2dr and it had the 500. Wow, what a tank that car was! However, starting in 1975, the DeVilles also had the 500 engine, but due to emissions controls, etc, HP was way down for such a huge engine.
