I did find a piece saying the search was being suspended/discontinued. I also saw a similar piece about the search on the BBC within the last 48 hours, that also had an interview with the pilot's sister, who disputed the computer claim, or something like that.

What I take from that now, is that rumors must have been circulating in Malaysia about a govt. coverup.

US DoJ just this week targeted $1B in funds connected to friends of the Malayisian PM, so it's not hard to envisage a coverup, just for cultural reasons alone.

Apparently, after rethinking the issue, the Malaysian authorities decided this was the best way to end things.

Whether it is true or not is another thing. We'll never know.

In a way, it is still puzzling that to his day no parts of that big aircraft has ever been found when we have some lets say amazing satellites that can zoom to a 16 ft boat in the ocean from space and see people walking on it

That's not true. Parts have bee found, around the western Indian Ocean. Parts have washed ashore off the coast of east Africa.

Parts have been found washed up on shore. The main fuselage however lies at the bottom of the vast expanse known as the Indian ocean. If this was a suicide flight or whatever the pilot knew what he was doing; as chances of finding that plane even early on were slim; now they are down to nearly nil; for now.

Most likely years or decades from now a fishing vessel or another ship doing something totally unrelated will come upon the wreckage.
