That article confuses me. It makes it sound like it took off and then returned to the airport, but in another place it says that the takeoff was aborted. Which was it?

Confusion. Nothing new. I don't think that the plane left the tarmac and came to a sudden and complete stop. Good thing too.

Whomever in the media that started the use of the word "tarmac", to describe airport movement areas that they're either too lazy or stupid to learn the proper terminology of, should be tarmacked and feathered.

Runways, Taxiways, Ramp Areas. Know the difference, or else use "tarmac" and reveal yourself as a fanboy and poser on aviation forums.

I stopped flying on SW some years ago, mainly because I saw a steady rise in their fares. I could never seem to get a reasonable price for a ticket, no matter how far in advance I purchased it. Actually their fares are way overpriced now for many of their routes. Not sure how they are keeping customers. It's a shame that SW has been steadily going downhill in the past few years.

Many of my friends who fly in the military call it that way. Not relevant however to the SWA discussion here imho.

I have noticed the same, and last fall asked someone I flew with in the Air Force long ago whom I ran into in St Louis who is now a captain with SWA "how come?". He said it's because Southwest doesn't fly through DFW or O'Hare, but mostly because of their no-fee policy. No change or baggage fees (although there IS a fee if you want to board first, and no one was biting when I was connecting in STL). If you add $50 baggage fees round trip to Spirit or United fares, you often end up with about the same cost at SWA.

Agreed on the fares. Though they still are mostly the lowest, it's not by much. Last time I tried to book Baltimore to Chicago, and Vegas, six weeks out, for trade shows, they were in the $375 range each way. Got to Vegas for about $220 r/t on Frontier with a late night out of Dulles.
