How little you know. Got a bit of stress? Cronic pain maybe? A lot of people take antidepressants.

Yea because I'd rather have pilots be suicidal depressed lowlifes. You don't see any flaw with that?

May I also take this time to notify others this gentleman has no ties to the great Rutgers University. We do not condone or endorse his views or behaviors in any manner whatsoever.

So would you rather have depresed and unmedicated pilots flying or medicated pilots flying. Hmm? Depressed and unmedicated was the old standard.

I want normal people flying planes. Not depressed people. Take up a different line of work if you are depressed. Also these medications supposedly can cause suicidal thoughts and drowsiness.

Just watch one of these depression TV ads that they show every 15 minutes and listen to all the side effects they say it has

I do see a bit of a double-standard here. I know of airline workers, namely mechanics, who have been moved into other (less safety critical) jobs, if depressed, let alone requiring depression meds. So I have mixed feelings on this one.

Mind you, this in no way means that I agree with or endorse the OP's immature outlook on chemical imbalances and the resultant behavior problems.

So you are for regulating where people can work? Your side is supposedly very hands off when it comes to business? There are millions of people who take antidpepressants and live normal and succesful lives, including pilots.

Additionally consider the side effects of some of those anti-depressants includes suicidal behavior.

People who take anti-depressants are not "suicidal losers". There are many, many patients who have clinical depression well controlled on meds. I have patients who are from all professions, including other docs, cops, lawyers, and politicians who are on these meds and function very well. Yes- I do have a few pilots as well.

It is unfortunate that a stigma still occurs in our society for those who are treated for depression.
