The only serious flood we had was back around 1975 when the bank parking lot along Kenduskeag Stream flooded. A lady was rescued from atop her flooded car by a Prince Galahad and they ended up getting married.

I remember that one. It was a tidal surge and the water rose 12 feet in 15 minutes.

Check out the National Weather Service map for today and you will see Bangor is under a flood watch as I write this. Yes Bangor can and does flood occasionally though it isn't New Orleans and most flooding tends to be minor and isolated.

It did the same in 1987 - flooded that is (or thereabouts ). Comparatively speaking, Maine is pretty dry 'tho (although after this summer, I don't know....)
