Yeah, maybe JV will have a good outing tomorrow and give the bullpen a bit of a rest.
I thinking about going to the game, but decided not to because the game was supposed to be on TBS.
I was watching the pregame show, and then, after the end of the last pregame show commercial,....no signal.
It isn't DISH overall, as it is only that channel that is all of a sudden 'no signal'.
A blackout re attendance ****shrug**** ?
I'll probably go to a game later in this series.
Verlander had flyout, strikeout swinging, single, flyout in an 18 pitch first inning.
Bottom of the first....Altuve strikes out, Bregman singles, Tucker homers into the second deck, Diaz grounds out, McCormick safe at first on throwing error from third, Dubon walks, Singleton walks, and Pena hits into a fielders choice with the bases loaded.
Verlander goes strikeout swinging, strikeout looking, single, walk, groundout in a 17 pich second inning.
Astros second...Maldonado singles, Altuve grounds into a DP, Bregman grounds out.
Verlander strikes out the side on 18 pitches in the third.
In the 4th inning, Verlander gets the 3,300th strikeout of his career (and 8th of the game).
In his last start, Scherzer moved ahead of Phil Niekro for 11th on the all time list.
As of the end of the top of the 4th inning of this Astros game, Scherzer is 11th All-Time with 3,344, Niekro is 12th with 3,342, and Verlander is 13th with 3,300.
Now, that's what Houston really needed. It's about time. Rangers loss with Astros victory.
If the games today stay the same score wise re where they are now, we'll have another day with the same, and then one game will separate the three teams....
Astros lead 7-1 in the bottom of the 8th
Mariners lead 6-2 in the top of the 8th
Rangers are losing 3-0 in the Bottom of the 4th in Arizona
(Verlander finished his 6 innings with 9Ks (and 3,301 for his career), giving up no runs)

Love it! The scores changed, but the leads held up, and one game separated the three teams at the end of the day.
The smiles continue tonight. The Mariners lost in 10 innings, Texas is idle, and the Astros lead 3-2 after 2 1/2.
Astros win = Astros and Rangers tied for the division lead and Mariners 1 1/2 back.
Idle Rangers gaining a half a game on both the Astros and the Mariners, with Graveman getting the loss, having given up the home run in the 10th.
Houston can't nail it down when it really matters. That automatic runner-at-second rule for extra innings has been a thorn in the Astros' side, especially at home.

And then the game the next day....Astros lost 17-1 . At least Texas also lost. (Seattle idle...1 1/2 separate the three).
The automatic runner in the 10th is one of if not the thing I least like about the rule changes.
Astros appear to be slipping a bit. Been hearing gripes about the pitching, specifically the bullpen. Didn't this Astros team be tops in the AL in almost every pitching category last year?
8/25/23.....Framber has a 91 pitch no hitter through 6.......1-0 Adtros lead.
114 pitch no hitter for Framber through 7....three strikeouts and a walk for Framber in the 7th....Still 1-0.
Twins beating Rangers 4-0.
