Despite the shaky start by Bumgarner ( 5ip /5 hits /5 walks /three runs /two HR) the Giants bats more than covered for him, pounding out 15 hits (four home runs) and scoring 12 runs.

SF is batting .375 as a team so far in 2016.

In Atlanta, defending NL MVP Bryce Harper has homered and been walked twice on opening day.

The Rangers beat Seattle 3-2 despite getting only one hit...the Mariner staff helped by issuing six walks.

In the 7th inning in San Diego, the Dodgers have outhit the Padres 16-1 and lead 14-0. Kershaw has allowed one hit and one walk while striking out nine.

Dodgers are hitting .457 as a team at the moment...but no home runs.

The Dodgers have yet to be scored upon through their first three games. They swept the hapless Padres by a total of 25-0.

LA is on a pace to go 162-0 while outscoring their opponents 1349 to 0.

I know it's only 4 games but man that D'Backs pitching staff is AWFUL. Their 4 games are taking 4+ hours to finish because none of their pitchers can get anyone out! They did start off with the Rockies, who really probably won't be good but seem to always start off hot, and now start a 4 game series with the Cubs, the World Series favorite according to Vegas, so I get the results. However, if you want to be a playoff contender you can't be averaging 7.25 runs per game allowed....and that includes the 9 runs the Cubs have already scored tonight, and since it's only the 5th inning, chances are they score more than 9 runs.

You have to have some patience. Arizona was only outscored by one run in the Colorado series. The Padres are hitting .130 as a team after their first three games and have yet to score. They obviously won't be batting .130 all year....although I think it would be cool if they did.

The Dodgers, whose pitching staff put the arm on the San Diego bats, went the first 40 innings of the season without giving up a run...and then gave up 12 to the Giants in the next four innings.

The problem I have with Arizona is their pitching staff wasn't very good last year which is the reason (I assume) they signed Greinke and traded for Miller. Of the 4 games so far Corbin who is the #3 has had the best result and that was still an average start. If Miller & Greinke combined to pitch 14 innings and only given up 4 or 5 runs, and the other 2 (Corbin & de la Rosa) got shelled then it probably wouldn't be as alarming. As it stands BOTH Greinke & Miller got shelled along with de la Rosa. It's a marathon not a sprint, and they do play in a hitters ballpark against two pretty good offensive teams, but not a good start to the season for them,

The Padres, after failing to score at all in their first three games, came up with 18 hits and 13 runs against Colorado today.

Horrible pitching tonight too. Walked in the first run and its only the 3rd inning.

Over the three previous seasons Zack Greinke has had a 2.30 ERA. Pitching in Arizona during that same time period it has been 3.38.
