Wow, the Braves are historically bad. I recall the late 80's when they were this awful. Why did the organization just clean out over the past 5-6 years? Was this all in an effort to afford that new stadium?
Now Olivera has been arrested for beating up a woman in the hotel in Washington. We gave up a good young lefthander in Alex Wood, as well as Peraza for him. This may be the most hitting he's done since we acquired him! Well we've got plenty of good lefthanded pitchers, as well as Peterson and Beckham at 2nd base- who needs those guys!
I am not sure where the Braves will go with this. I would have to believe that MLB will suspend Olivera at some point, costing him quite a few games in addition to whatever he misses in the meantime. I've heard some fans on message boards calling for the team to cut Olivera but I am not sure that is really much of an option considering the team owes him $28 million+ for the 2017 to 2020 seasons. I am guessing that the team will probably just try to make the best of a bad situation and hope that he comes back after suspension and stays out of trouble. This one really hurts, as they needed him to get 500 at bats this season and show some ability to make an impact with his bat.

I think the Braves' problems were caused by the mismanagement of Frank Wren. He did not do much to bring in players to improve the club, and depleted the farm.
Game #8 (2016-04-13 - 19:05): Nationals 3, Braves 0
The combination of not scoring runs and a bad inning from Wisler kept the Braves (0-8) winless as the Nationals (6-1) won 3-0. Wisler (0-1) took the loss.
Game #9 (2016-04-14 - 16:05): Atlanta Braves @ Washington Nationals
The Braves will seek to avoid a four-game series sweep against the Nationals and regression to 0-9. Brave Julio Teheran (0-1, 5.40 ERA, 8 K) will start. The Nationals are yet to name their starting pitcher.
If the claims against Olivera are founded, I expect nothing less than a half season ban (50-70 games). If Chapman got what he got with no charges pressed, expect Olivera to be made an example of, especially coming off this offseason with Chapman and Reyes.
It will give Johnson and Francouer more time in LF, as well as pretty much cement Mallex Smith's place on the roster (or we'll call up Bonifacio if we want to save some more Smith clock-time).
I originally predicted 62-100 for this team, but the more I see them, I'm going to amend that to 47-115.

Does it matter who they start? Braves will eventually win one by a blow out. Right now, they lose every close game and are very uptight when hitting in game situations- esp Freeman.

Freeman is sitting today and Kelly Johnson is playing 1B. Jace Peterson starting in LF. Interesting field alignment.
