How would it handcuff the Wolves? If Wiggins isn't involved in the trade then the Wolves would be dumb not to take the Celtics trade (better overall value).
Would Love commit to a long term contract with the Celtics before he was traded. Nobody is just gonna give up young talented players and draft picks for a rental. There is the ESPN report that Love is intrigued by the idea of playing with the Cavs and signing a long term deal. If that's true and he wanted to play for the Cavs over the other teams that would like to get him, he could hold up a deal to anyone else and say he won't sign a contract extension with anybody but the Cavs. I've already heard that the Cavs don't want to trade Wiggins though. Everybody knows what kind of a defender LeBron is, and Wiggins is suppose to be a really good defender. That could be menacing to the rest of the league.

I am going to assume that the Cavs aren't the only team he'd sign an extension with. I bet come trade deadline time, teams like the Bulls and Golden State will pay a pretty penny for Love. Also, both of those teams offer something the Cavs don't.... the huge market Love seems to desperately need, along with other superstars.

I've never gotten the impression that Love wants to necessarily be in a big market, never even sniffing the playoffs in six years in Minnesota and seeing a bleak outlook here is what led to this, that and him getting passed over for the max contract term from Khan is what irked him.

By the time Wiggins gets his NBA legs in a few years...Lebron will be on the downside.
If you have to give up Wiggins for a guy that's ready NOW.....you have to do it.
Wow! It really looks like Wade screwed himself financially. He opted out of the last two years of his contract which would have paid him $40 million. Now he seems like just another broken-down free agent. Unless the Heat are really generous with him, and sign him to a longer deal for the some total amount, there's no way anyone will pay him $20 mil per season.
I almost feel sorry for the guy...
