there's no comparison. lebron already has 5k more lifetime points and he still has a long way to go, they're not even in the same galaxy.

lifetime points lol. That sorta ignores the fact that Lebron has played an extra FOUR seasons. If Bird is 19 years old in Lebron's era, he leaves college after his freshman season where he averaged a ridiculous 33ppg/13rpg/4apg (or skips college all together).

But going by career averages isn't fair either to Lebron. Had he gone to college for a year or two his career averages would be even higher.

Either way, arguing over the two is absurd really. Both are basically 1a and 1b at the SF position. We will see what Lebron does from the age of 31 onward.

Not sure it would make a difference on career averages. Lebron averaged 21 ppg at 19. By his second year he was exactly at his career average of 27.2 ppg. I think just about any player's numbers as a rookie will be a little lower regardless of years in college. It almost always takes a year to acclimate to pro basketball.

It would make a positive difference no doubt. We could debate how much. I don't doubt it isn't as big an effect as we see with the early numbers of guys like Kobe, Garnett or Tmac. Those guys were not as physically developed as Lebron was coming into the league right out of high school.

That was an absurd comment regarding lifetime points.

It could factor in if Lebron continues at a high level into his late 30's. A big part of being considered great is sustaining greatness for a lomgtime. We will see how Lebron's career finishes up.

I hate inter-era comparisons of players. Come on. Bird played when the dynamics of style of play was sub par and limited training.

The league sucked in the 80s.

i agree. nutrition was different too back then and technology. hard to compare different eras.

keep in mind lebron has carried his teams...how many hall of famers has lebron been teammates with in their prime? wade for sure...bosh is iffy....kyrie possibly, but too early to tell....lebron likely retired by time kyrie is in his prime
