I was soooooo tempted to have Wisconsin knock-out Nova on my bracket....sonofabitch. Still a ridiculously exciting game even if it did just put the final nail in the coffin of my bracket. Suck it Nova....no back to back titles for you!
I've learned my lesson too many times with Nova in the past seven years. I have Wisconsin going to the Elite 8 but it's a shame both teams with so much tournament experience had to face off so early.
How about Xavier? A bit overseeded last year with their 2 seed but this year had to beat Butler in the Big East tourney to get in. They're now cruising to the Sweet 16.
It's amazing how NCAA tournament experience prevails in this tourney. Florida State is young, flashy and not an NCAA tournament regular and has gotten by with their good home wins this year. Then you have Xavier who plays tight games night in and night out and has recent experience getting to a Sweet 16. Just like what we've seen with Wisconsin today, albeit Nova won a recent championship but you saw that with USC over SMU yesterday. You can study the metrics all you want but it's such a different game once you get to this stage.
I didn't see Villanova losing this early, though I shouldn't be shocked (I mostly thought Wisconsin was moving in the wrong direction lately and had them losing in round 1). But I correctly picked FSU losing to Xavier in my bracket, but didn't think it would be such a terrible game!
anyone have a favorite tourney team they would like to see win it all but didn't pick them to do so ?
( "homers" don't count)
Mine is Iowa State.
