INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -- Cleveland center Ben Wallace is considering retirement following the Cavaliers' elimination from the playoffs.
Wallace, a four-time NBA defensive player of the year, said Sunday that a combination of injuries, declining production and a loss of passion for the game has him thinking about quitting. He plans to sit down with his family before deciding his next move.

It should since he is USELESS on the offensive end and no longer a defensive presence.
Would you leave $14 million on the table as he will be if he retires if you had every right to come back and play?? I think the fact that he's even pondering it says a lot about him, and it would be nice to have that salary along w/Wally's exorbinant salary come off the books so the Cavs could make a run at some free agents this year.
And FYI, he's ALWAYS been useless at the offensive end, it's just his defensive skills, mainly his quickness, have diminished from when he was defensive player of the year 5 years ago. That said, he was the only guy on the Cavs that gave Dwight Howard any kind of resistance whatsoever in that series. Playing 14 seasons though seems to have caught up w/him.

Couldn't agree more. The Cavs need some bigs that can contribute on a consistent basis. Move Z to more of a bench role and see if we can get something for Varejao or Sasha.
Seeing Ben Wallace without a Pistons jersey and the fro is too weird for me.
If you think thats weird, wait til you see Rasheed Wallace in a Cavs jersey as it's being reported that he's in discussions w/the Cavs on a 2-year deal; it's going to be hard for me to root for him if they sign him, but as long as he keeps his cool (yeah right!) and doesn't get 25 technicals next season and plays w/in their system, think he's a good signing for the Cavs using their mid-level exception, even though he's getting old, he can at least challenge D. Howard a lot better than any other current Cav can.
