Yes anything is better than nothing - as long as it comes down as snow in the mountains. So much more is needed. Like 10X more than the forecast to make a dent in the deficit. It really is sad up in the mountains. Normally a winter drive to mountain looks like this -

Not this!

I agree with you here BendLocal and Snownut. A little is certainly better than nothing, but we really need a lot and soon! The entire west is really hurting. Luckily we're not quite as bad as California, but still, for the Oregon in January, we are so dry.

I like to check this blog and every now and then. It's one of the best I've found for weather here in the PNW. The most recent post is alarming. Check it out. Cliff Mass Weather Blog

I was in Yosemite last weekend and Yosemite falls is just a trickle. I was told this morning that the California snowpack, that feeds the LA basin is 12% of average.

Looks like another significant storm over the next couple days; National Weather Service Watch Warning Advisory Summary
hopefully the begining of several to come since the jet stream has made a major shift back to a more normal pattern. Heres to hoping for drought relief and a tepid wildfire season for the west.

This looks positive:
During February 6-10, 2014, very heavy precipitation (as much as 7-9 inches, liquid equivalent) is predicted in northern California, and 3-4 inches in western Oregon. This will go a long way in helping to mitigate some of the drought conditions in these areas, though reassessment of conditions next week will be needed to determine the extent of any potential improvements in the Drought Monitor depiction.

From Us Drought monitor, USDA.
